The TMF fellowship programme aims to promote excellence in Tanzanian journalism through specialised reporting on topical issues. Like last year, this year’s thematic emphasis is inspired by the concept of sustainable development and Tanzania’s potential in this area. For TMF, journalists and the media have a critical role to play in the development cycle. TMF is committed to building the capacity of journalists to grapple with and engage effectively in shaping the development agenda. The fellowship is a six-month programme during which journalists go through thematic master classes, conduct fieldwork in rural or marginalised areas and receive mentorship in order to produce quality, indepth investigative reporting for public interest in order to contribute to increased accountability in governance in Tanzania. It is best suited to mid-career journalists.

During the master class three held from 16 to 26 October 2017, 10 fellows get an opportunity to review their media products after second field work. The sessions were led by TMF staff, mentors and experts.
