15 grantees have been identified for two different types of fellowship grant. The first is a development reporting fellowship for which TMF has selected four female and six male mid-career journalists. Issues to be covered by journalists include health, agriculture, energy and water. Of the 10 journalists, five are from Dar es Salaam while the remaining hail from Mwanza, Karagwe and Manyara.

The second type of fellowship, for which five journalists (two females and three males) have been identified aims to build capacity in young, upcoming journalists who will participate in TMF’s new and innovative media lab concept. The journalists who are all either recent graduates or in their final year of studies will produce work in the area of road safety, currently one of the most pressing public health concerns globally.
