Received applications

Some 174 applications were received in the first call for proposals in January 2010 whereby 25 applicants were successful with 20 male applicants and 5 female. Majority of the grantees are from Dar es Salaam (11) and Zanzibar (7).
Seven other regions: Iringa, Kagera, Kigoma, Kilimanjaro, Mwanza, Ruvuma and Tanga had one successful grantee each. The second call is now on effective 15 April 2010.
The first deadline for individual regional and strategic capacity grants was on February 15, 2009.
TMF received a total of 210 individual grant applications in time for the deadline, 161 were from male applicants and 49 were from female applicants. Of the 210 applications we received, 57 successful applicants will be receiving grants from TMF.
The majority of the applications were from the following three regions: Dar es Salaam (80), Mwanza (21) and Ruvuma (21). We strongly recommend females and applicants from underrepresented regions to apply. Successful applicants from the first call will hear from us during the week of the 20-25th of April.
The most popular topics for the individual grant proposals were related to health, education, agriculture, environment and industry. The second call in 2009 was in July.
So far we have received a total of 70 institutional concept proposals. Of these, 26 have been approached to develop full proposals. We will be publishing more information about successful institutional grant proposals in June.
We would like to remind prospective grantees that the next call for proposals for Regional Grants is from 15 April 2010 to 31 May 2010. There is no deadline for Rapid Release and Institutional Grants as we assess these on a continuous basis throughout the year.
